Part 1: Unlock Toyota Smart Key with Key Tool Plus
Before unlock the key, let’s read it firstly.
It’s a Toyota 8A transponder with learned chip, which means it’s actually locked.
VVDI Key Tool Plus unlock path:
Special function >> Unlock Toyota Smartkey >> Unlock
Key Tool Plus supports 40,80 original Toyota smart key unlock, please connect the battery before unlocking.
During the unlocking process, the LED flashes to indicate that the unlocking is successful, otherwise retry.
After unlocked successfully, go to read the key again.
It has changed to blank chip, which means it’s unlocked and able to be programmed to another car.
We can actually reuse the Toyota key now.
You can customize or program smart key now.

Unlock Key
Plug VVDI Mini OBD Tool into OBD for connection.
Let’s read the key first, it is “Have learned”.
Go back to main page on Key Tool Max, press
Special function >> Unlock Toyota Smartkey >> Unlock
Unlock OK.
Go back to read the smart key again.
It is “Blank”.
So now we can use the 8A Smart Key to program to a new Toyota.
